For most visitors to Beijing, it's not a question of whether they will go and see the Great Wall, but more which part of the wall they will visit. Badaling, 70 kilometers (40 miles) northwest of Beijing is where most people go - there is a cable car, tourist shops selling everything imaginable and plenty of fellow day-trippers.

In the north of China, there lies a 6,700-kilometer-long (4,161-mile-long) ancient wall. Now well-known as the Great Wall of China, it starts at the Jiayuguan Pass of Gansu Province in the west and ends at the Shanhaiguan Pass of Hebei Province in the east.
